How To Wow Your Guests with a Holiday Table Display.

September 23, 2018

Happy First Day of Autumn!

Although, in the desert autumn still means 100 degree weather, but to compensate I figured upgrading decor is the best way to get into the spirit.

Here I will show you the easiest way to upgrade your table settings for a dinner party or a date by using inexpensive items found at your local thrift store.

Usually new dinnerware ranges from $40 on up and here I was able to raid my local Goodwill and make a setting for two for under $20!

Here is how I did it:

Decide on a Color Palette

This will make it easier to pick out items

Look for Solid Colors

Using solid colors help bring a look together and make it easier to spot items fast

Use Items to Emphasize the Event or Holiday

Things like prints or shapes that scream the holiday or event are perfect!

Find Centerpiece Items

A few items like candles, decor, flowers or vases can help pull the look together.

In my Autumn inspired display I emphasized orange and green with plates, kept it grounded with black drinking glasses and added a festive touch by using leaf printed bandanas as napkins.

For my center piece I grabbed some green and orange candleholders as well as a ceramic acorn and pumpkin. I also added some key items from a dollar store like some fabric for a table runner (burlap)  and some fake foliage (reference first image).

For me my local Goodwill always makes it a breeze to be able to upgrade holiday decor and help me feel like Im Martha Stewart without breaking the bank.

Please let me know if you try it out!

xoxo, Fabiola
